Pastor Reg

Rev Reg Neibling is our Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care. He has been involved with the Silkstone Church in this role for about six years. He has been in Pastoral work with Baptist Churches in Queensland for some fifty-eight years, with several years break some twenty years ago, because of personal illness.

As a lad Reg grew up as a farmer's son, becoming adept in taking care of the farm work at that time. Since then it has been a case of "Taking the boy out of the country, but not the country out of the boy"

At this stage of life, Reg continues to have a strong calling to caring for people in life's various experiences. So strongly was this experienced some years ago that he undertook special training for Industrial Chaplaincy and was involved for about seventeen years in committee work for the Church's Australian Missionary Arm. Also because of a perceived increasing need for the Relationship Care for couples, individuals and families, Reg undertook several years of specialist training in that area. Then for many years, first in brisbane, and then in Ipswich, besides his responsibilities in Ministry in the Church, undertook community counseling in those specialized areas.

In the year 2000, by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, Reg was named a Paul Harris Fellow in appreciation of the tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world. This is the highest recognition given world wide by Rotary International.

Of later years, Reg, being strongly supported and assisted by his wife Barbara has found an enormous need of those people in both Church and Community for the aged, people in hospital, in aged care and nursing homes, those facing death and the families of those people.

Both Reg and Barbara have found a ready acceptance in those areas, as well as giving what assistance is possible to the bereaved. Years later fold are still making contact to say how much they have been helped and still immensely appreciate it.

Reg's commitment to this work is born out of his own experience of the Lord Jesus in the normal happy experiences of life, and also through major illness, and surgeries which have left heir mark on him. It is Reg's desire that other people might find that the Lord Jesus is relevant in any, or all of their life's journey. The greatest joy is to find young and older folk discovering that the Jesus of the Bible loves and cares, and that they are able to find forgiveness - that He is most relevant in this day and age, regardless of their background and problems.
