Rev Daryl Rossow is our Senior Pastor. He commenced with us in mid-February 2007 after pastoring other churches (St George and Toowoomba) for more than 14 years. He evidences a strong teaching gift which he has also exercised in lecturing at Bible College. Others also affirm his words of wisdom and quiet, gentle leadership.
Daryl was formerly a consulting engineer in the areas of civil and structural engineering, a career he pursued for about 16 years in Townsville, Brisbane, Cairns and Toowoomba. He enjoys most sports, has played competitive soccer for the past 18 years, can hit a mean golf ball, reads avidly, supports the Broncos and the Maroons, watches James Bond movies and has a somewhat dry sense of humour.
Daryl is ably supported by his wife Leanne who assists in many and varied background ways. She is also an avid reader and loves all manner of crafts with which she often blesses others. They have two adult children and two grandsons.
To Daryl, “Christianity is all about having a one on one relationship with God through Christ. By His Spirit, He lives inside us and leads us and guides us and transforms us into the likeness of Christ and empowers us for life and service. Christ brings strength, encouragement, hope and purpose. Life without Him would not be living! Accordingly, the driving force for Daryl’s life is his intimacy with God as he spends time in God’s Presence, speaking with and listening to Him – the privilege of all Christian believers.
One of Daryl’s passions is opening the Word to others and helping them to get into it for themselves. The Scriptures as God’s Word to us, provides the basis for all we do and also the inspiration and hope as to what God can and wants to do in our lives. What God did for, in, and through others as recorded in the Scriptures, He wants to do for, in and through us. WOW!
Daryl seeks to develop the Church to live out two images the Scriptures use to describe the Church. The first image is that of the Body of Christ. The imagery here is that the Church is now Christ’s Body on earth, here to continue on the ministry of Christ into people’s lives. The second Biblical image is that of the Church as the family of God, providing a caring, nurturing and safe environment for people to grow together to maturity in Christ.
